THE SOLUTION IS ADVANCED BIOFUELS

WHAT IS BIOMASS FUEL

Biomass is a renewable energy source used for fuel and energy purposes. Biomass are
products consisting in whole or in part of vegetable matter from agriculture or forestry
burned to recover their energy content. There are two types of biomass, solid and liquid.
Solid biomass is wood chips, pellets, and briquettes used as fuel for power generation and heating. Solid biomass can be burned alone or together with coal. Biomass liquid in the form of vegetable oils and fat waste is used for the production of biofuels and bioliquids.

what is the difference between the first and second generation Second-generation biofuels are produced from non-food crops including the waste from food crops, agricultural residue, wood chips, and waste cooking oil.

Second-generation biofuels are also known as advanced biofuels. What separates them
from first-generation biofuels the fact that feedstock used in producing second-generation biofuels are generally not food crops. The only time the food crops can act as second-generation biofuels is if they have already fulfilled their food purpose. For instance, waste vegetable oil is a second-generation biofuel because it has already been used and is no longer fit for human consumption. Virgin vegetable oil, however, would be a first-generation biofuel.

  • Biodiesel is a biofuel made from vegetable oils and other fats. Biodiesel is a fuel used for diesel engines (Diesel)

  • Biodiesel is widely produced in the process of transesterification and esterification of vegetable oils and fats. The new technology for producing biofuels is also the HVO technology in which BioJet Fuel is additionally obtained

  • The biofuel production process is a clean process and does not generate any air pollution. In the production process, there is no combustion process, there is no emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, as in the case of the production of fuels from fossil sources.

  • The energy value of biodiesel is similar to the energy value of traditional fuels. The use of biodiesel as a low-emission fuel (even in some cases zero-emission) as an intrinsic fuel and in a mixture with traditional fossil fuel greatly reduces the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere.

  • Almost all countries in the world have implemented a coherent policy of implementation and development of biofuels and renewable energy, which guarantees the development of this sector. This policy focuses on creating by 2050 full Zero-emission economies.

Pongamia

oil

From the Pongamia tree, oil is obtained, which in terms of physicochemical properties is similar to rapeseed oil commonly used as a raw material for the biodiesel production process.

Pongamia oil is not edible oil, and is not classified as food !!! This is one of the most important advantages of this oil. It is in line with the biofuel development policy, i.e. with a policy that limits and will eliminate fuel production from food in the future. Thanks to this, the oil is classified as a second-generation raw material, the use of these oils is supported and becomes required at the present time. Second generation oils will soon be the basic raw material for biofuel production.

Pongamia oil can also be used as liquid fuel in the production of green energy (electricity and heat). This can be used in cogeneration units with energy efficiency above 85%. The efficiency of a typical coal-fired power plant is about 35%.
